PAYMENTS
1. Pay is once monthly on the last day of the month for a Partner's "Draw". A draw is the amount determined for your monthly pay, usually a gross amount from 10-20K. Each monthly draw is added together to get the total quarterly draw amount that is deducted from the Quarterly pay, which is based on actual billed minutes. Whatever remains will be the bonus for the quarter. The minutes worked are multiplied by the minute value (fluctuates a bit based on actual collections, 4-4.5 historically for past 3 yrs) and paid based on the PRIOR quarters work (ie, 2016 SEPT-DEC minutes worked are used to calculate the 2017 MARCH 30th Quarterly bonus- but deductions are figured from the Current quarter).
For example:
A partner takes a draw of $15K monthly x 3 months, totaling $45K. Suppose they earn an average of 6,000 min a month, totaling 18,000 min for the quarter. 18,000 x $4.3/min = $77,400. If you have a total of $77,400 earned gross pay, you then subtract the business expenses from this (Malpractice premium, Health Insur premiums, Business expenses like licensing costs, internet, cell phone, laptop, etc) and let's say that comes to about $7,400 for the quarter....then the Net Qtrly pay may be $70,000. A pre-tax RETIREMENT contribution to the Schwab pension account (if you choose to participate) would also be deducted at this time. If no retirement contribution is made, then the remaining $70,000 is taken- and the $45,000 in draws is subtracted to result in the Quarterly bonus of $25,000 gross salary (ie, taxes still to be subtracted, of course), and is paid out on the last day of the quarter.
Each Partner is encouraged to KEEP A PERSONAL RECORD of their own EARNED MINUTES for each day so as to be able to compare those minutes with the published minutes of ABEO for each month to make sure there are no missing cases or minutes for other assignments (ie, meetings, internal duties, etc.)
2. "Call Pay" is once monthly, usually around the 10th of the month, and is paid to Partners and employees taking call, at the rate of $1,000 per 1st call taken. No money is distributed for 2nd call. The Call Pay is based on calls performed 2 months prior (ie, March 10th would be the approx payout date for the JAN Calls worked). The gross distribution of 4 calls in a month, for instance, would be $4,000, and the net amount after standard tax and social security, etc. deductions would be direct deposited and a statement emailed to the recipient from Walpole a few days prior.
Calls are distributed evenly amongst full-time Partners and based on the time scheduled to work (ie, if you work 52 weeks a year, you will be assigned more call than the person who takes a lot of vacation and is scheduled to work 40 weeks a year....the assignments are proportional to the time one makes himself/herself available to work).
